Deva Matha College is a NAAC accredited college which is affiliated to Mahatma Gandhi University, Kerala. It was started in 1964 as a Junior College and grew into a First Grade College in 1968 and a Post Graduate one in 1981.
The Department of Commerce set sail in the year 1968 with the commencement of the Pre-Degree Batch and B.Com. Degree programme. The first batch of B.Com was started in 1968 with fifty students. The Department was elevated to the status of a Post Graduate Department in 1981, when the University of Kerala permitted the onset of M.Com. Course. Prof. T.M. Devasia was the founder Head of the Department of Commerce, who became the Principal of the college in 1991. Prof. T.C. Kuriakose, Prof. George Mathew, Prof. V.F. George and Prof. N.M. Mathew were the pioneers of the Department.
Our esteemed Alumni subsume former M.L.As- Sri. P.M. Mathew, Sri. Thomas Chazhikadan and our present College Manager Very Rev. Fr. Abraham Kollithanathumalayil, Sri K.J Devasia I.P.S.(Rtd), Dr. K.G. Today the Post Graduate Department of Commerce is a name to reckon with which traverses ahead with “Together We Learn, Forever We Gain” as its motto, under the current Head of the Department, Dr. T.T. Devasia.

Deva Matha College, Kuravilangad was found on 3rd April 1964 under the guidance and patronage of the Catholic Diocese of Pala and St. Mary’s Forane Church, Kuravilangad. The parish, St. Mary’s Forane Church, Kuravilangad, has etched her name in the academia of Kerala with the establishment of two High Schools and two LP schools in the latter half of the 18th century and a Higher Secondary School in 1998. Deva Matha College, Kuravilangad was Re-Accredited with ‘A’ Grade by NAAC in September 2011 and is an ISO 9000-2008 certified First Grade Aided Minority College. Affiliated to Mahatma Gandhi University, Kottayam, it is recognised under section 2(f) and 12B of the UGC Act 1956.
The founders who spearheaded the college had in their minds the glorious task of dispelling darkness and spreading the light of true wisdom all round, irrespective of caste, creed, language or religion, through the dissemination of knowledge and other skills that would mould the young generation into exemplary citizens well equipped to face the challenges of the times. True to its vision and mission, the college today has emerged as a knowledge hub and a leading centre of academic excellence, educating and transforming thousands of students who hail from a purely Agrarian, Rural background.
